Our Beginners Open Water Clinics are an ideal way to learn all of the basic techniques and requirements for success in open water swimming. We understand that open water swimming can be a very daunting experience and we will guide you every step of the way to becoming confident and relaxed in this new environment.
We have a maximum number of 8 students per clinic and will always have 2 coaches. This approach generates very personalised and individual attention.
Structure:
By using a combination of theory, discussion and practical work, we will guide you through the various stages of how to adapt your stroke to open water conditions.
In the classroom: 1 hour
Understanding the main elements of open water technique
What elements of your technique are holding you back
Understanding a perfect frontcrawl technique with our CGI annimation software
How to relax, eliminate your fears, and enjoy the whole experience
A 15 minute presentation from strength and conditioning experts "Full Circle Fitness" will be included in this section which will teach you some fantastic exersises to increase your flexibility , core stability, and general performance in order to maximise you swimming potential.
In the lake: 1.5 hours
We will swim for short distances in the lake and tread water in between sets to talk and discuss elements of technique. One coach will be in the water with you at all times and another will be in a boat for safety, support and to film your stroke.
We will cover:
Putting the classroom theory and technique into action
Videoing your stroke above the water before, during and after the group session. This will be edited and given to you afterwards with a full audio commentary.
How to swim in a straight line
How to see where you are going
How to breath correctly to help you relax
How to swim effortlessly and with superb technique.
In the classroom: 1 hour
Full analysis of your individual technique from the video footage

Student Requirements:
You must be able to swim at least 800m of a basic front crawl slowly and continuously in a swimming pool. You must be able to tread water.
