Children's Lessons Terms and Conditions
Registered office: 56 Verulam Way, Cambridge, CB4 2HN
General rules:
- Children should all shower and go to the toilet before they enter the water, this helps to keep the pool clean and maximise their learning time.
- Shoes must be removed on poolside or overshoes worn and no buggies are allowed in changing rooms or on poolside. This keeps the poolside clean and safe.
- Long hair should be tied back or a swimming hat worn.
- Children may wear goggles but we reserve the right to remove them if they cause disruption of the class.
- Safety for all must be of paramount concern and we retain the right to remove anyone on, in or around the pool that gives us any concern whatsoever with regard to safety. Therefore please keep any younger children not swimming quiet and under control.
- Children must not run or act inappropriately once within the pool vicinity. We shall not be responsible for any injury/accident caused as a result of children and/or parents disobeying these rules.
Enrolment: If wanting to undertake school term- time classes then it is a condition that you must re-enrol each term if you wish to continue lessons. Details will be emailed out at least 3 weeks before the end of every term. Please take note of the deadline date on this email.
Re-enrolment: If wanting to continue with school-term time classes then your place is guaranteed if The Cambridge Swimming Academy prescribed re-enrolment form is received by the deadline date as detailed in the re-enrolment emails. If we do not receive your completed re-enrolment form by the deadline then your child's place will be allocated to another child.
Payment is due before or on the day of the first lesson of a pre-determined block or term of lessons or when undertaking a crash course lesson scheme.
Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or debit and credit cards only; The Cambridge Swimming Academy shall not accept payment in any other format. Cheques should be made payable to "Cambridge Swimming Academy Ltd." The Cambridge Swimming Academy may at its discretion accept late payment and reserves the right to add onto such payment a charge of 5% of the total payment due.
When undertaking school term-time lessons payment for lessons can be paid for in 2 equal halves either side of half term at the absolute discretion of The Cambridge Swimming Academy. By paying in this way, you are still committing to enrol and pay for the whole term and cannot cancel your booking after half of the term. If you wish to leave after half a term you will be liable for full payment of the remainder of the term. This scheme is not applicable to crash courses, unless agreed otherwise in writing by The Cambridge Swimming Academy.
Holidays: If you wish to take a holiday during term-time or a crash course, you will still be charged full term/crash course payment for your place on The Cambridge Swimming Academy course. You shall of course retain your place on the course for the term. This condition is inclusive of all bank holidays.
Refunds/Credits are not given if your child refuses to get into the water or you change your mind. Young children are given three weeks to settle into the new environment, if there is no improvement in the professional opinion of The Cambridge Swimming Academy, we will ask you to bring them back next term. Credits may be given for other circumstances at our absolute discretion.
Cancellations: In respect of term-time lessons, if you cancel your place between 7 and 14 days before the start of the term within which your course of lessons is due to begin, we shall refund your payment minus an administration fee of 5%. If you cancel your place within 7 days of the start of term, then payment for the first half of term will be charged. If you cancel your place during the first four weeks of the term time then no refund shall be given, unless we are able to fill the place. If you cancel your place after the elapse of 4 weeks from term starting, no refund shall be given. Any cancellations due to disasters, terrorism, war and pandemics will not be refundable. Children with heavy colds, sinusitis and ear infections are requested not to swim. Any queries with regard to further health problems please telephone us.
Serious illness, which effects a child for more than 4 weeks such as broken bones, or any condition that requires prolonged hospitalisation and medical attention shall be credited with a refund for all lessons missed as a result of the condition. This is on the condition that The Cambridge Swimming Academy has been informed of the condition and prognosis within 48 hours of the first lesson to be missed and we are able to find a replacement pupil for your child's slot.
Medical Conditions: All medical conditions, irrespective of severity, must be declared in writing to us. The Cambridge Swimming Academy will at its discretion decide whether such conditions will restrict your engagement in lessons and shall duly notify you of such decision within 48 hours of notice of such condition being given. It is your responsibility to ensure that you or your child is medically safe to swim. The Cambridge Swimming Academy will not be deemed liable for any accidents or injuries arising from swimming with us that relate to your individual medical conditions.
Complaints: If you have any complaints at all about our lessons, staff etc. please telephone us as soon as possible. You should ask to speak to Edward Williams.
Our Guarantee: We guarantee to provide safe, quality swimming lessons that build confidence and ability, using qualified ASA swimming teachers at all times.
Pool Closures can on rare occasions occur and will force us to cancel lessons. If it is possible we will make up these lessons within 7 days of such cancellation; although this is not guaranteed and shall be dependant on teacher and pool availability. If a pool is closed due to a fault on our part that is within our control or on the pools part, such as vomit or faeces in the pool, then you will be fully credited for any lessons missed. If you are not re-enrolling then we are unable to credit you any lessons. See also Cancellations clause above.
Special Needs and Disabled children are welcome where possible at all our venues. The Cambridge Swimming Academy integrate these children into our regular classes although we do not employ specially trained staff and can therefore not be held liable for the care of such students beyond the teaching of swimming techniques. We recommend specialist teachers once your child can be taught with the teacher out of the water. We must however reserve the right to remove from our lessons any child that causes disruption or compromises safety regardless of disability, special need or otherwise. Safety of our pupils and others in the pool environment is at all times our paramount concern.
Parental responsibilities: Parents are responsible for their children in the changing area. Children are not The Cambridge Swimming Academy's responsibility until the child steps onto the poolside. Please ensure you are at the pool within 10 minutes of lesson ending. During lessons parents must not interrupt or communicate with the teacher, distract the pupils or approach the poolside, unless it is a matter of health and safety, as you may endanger the safety of the pupils and other pool users.
