Cambridge Swimming Academy was set up by Edward Williams in 2007 as it was clear that students were not progressing nearly as fast in large groups than in small groups. "The reason I set up the CSA is very simple; my love of swimming. I do not do this just as a job, but as a lifestyle, and nothing is more satisfying than passing on knowledge and wisdom to others. To be really good at what you do, you need to love every moment."
Director's Biography:
August 2006: Ed swam across The English Channel in 14 hours aged 19 raising £32,000 for Prostate Cancer Research. He became one of the youngest swimmers in history to complete this feat which is considered the hardest of all open water challenges.
January 2007: Ed set up The Cambridge Swimming Academy to teach children and adults of all ages and abilities how to swim using expert swimming teachers, private pools, and small groups with a maximum of 3 in a class for children and 1 in a class for adults.
June 2007: Ed was appointed the official coach for The Channel Swimming Association.
July 2008: Ed won a Cambridge Sports Personality of the Year award for his contributions to the world of swimming.
April 2009: Cambridge Swimming Academy is registered as a LTD company as the number of student records reaches 400.
August 2009: Ed swam across Lake Windermere, England's largest natural lake in 8 hours, 11 minutes raising £2,000 for East Anglia's Children's Hospice.
January 2010: Cambridge Swimming Academy start coaching Paralympic Silver Medallist Fran Williamson for London 2012; Soon to be Paralympic Gold Medalist!
